A self-watering orchid pot that provides just the right growing conditions for orchids. Thanks to a nylon wick in the base of the pot, the plant can draw up the water it needs.

The orchid pot is made of glazed faience and its simple design suits any home. The round, organic shape provides a beautiful contrast to the sculptural look of the orchid. 

In nature, plants draw up the water they need through their roots – when they need it. The same principle is behind this functional and self-watering orchid pot.

Water is drawn up through nylon threads which hang down from the bottom of the pot, like extensions of the plant’s own roots.

As long as there is water in the container, the plant looks after itself.

• Made of glazed faience, the orchid pot consists of an inner and outer bowl in a single unit, with nylon wicks in the base of the inner bowl. 
  
  
• Beautiful orchids – the easy way: Very carefully remove the orchid from its plastic pot and gently shake the roots free of soil. Then, place the orchid in the self-watering pot and addorchid growth media. Because the plant has aerial roots, they can be allowed to protrude a little. Finally, pour water into the outer bowl to allow the wicks to absorb the water.  With the correct lighting and temperatures, the orchid has optimum growing conditions and will thrive to the delight of everyone. 

This self-watering orchid pot has been designed by Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk from the Tools design studio. The two designers have previously designed a striking and functional planter vase (Herb Pot) for Eva Solo which has won them several international design awards*. The experience acquired in developing the planter vase has been used to develop the new self-watering orchid pot.
